Transverse wave

What this actually means
Two directions matter on every wave: the direction each particle wobbles, and the direction the energy travels. Transverse means those two are at right angles.
The word 'oscillations' is doing legal work. 'Movement perpendicular to propagation' is marked wrong because 'movement' could mean drifting along, which never happens. Oscillation says back-and-forth about a fixed point, which is exactly what occurs.
Examples to quote: light and all EM waves, waves on a rope, water surface waves. To justify 'transverse', name the oscillation direction, name the energy direction, and say perpendicular.
Writing 'movement' instead of 'oscillations' — marked wrong at your school.
